I Love Libraries

Library users are passionate readers, and we’ve got resources for all varieties of book lovers. From book club picks to banned and challenged books to award winning titles for readers of all ages, there’s no shortage of great books to pick from for your next exciting read!

Memory Café

The Memory Café offers a safe and welcoming haven for individuals with MCI, early-stage Alzheimer’s, or related dementias, along with their care partners. These special gatherings have no set agenda, allowing everyone to simply enjoy each other’s company and create connections beyond the diagnosis. It’s a place to find comfort, understanding, and new friendships with others going through similar experiences.

Join us on the 4th Tuesday of every month from 1:30 to 3:30 PM (note that the December meeting will be on the 3rd Tuesday). To join, please reach out to Tammy Dickman at 262-335-4497 and be part of a heartwarming community.

Special Collections

In addition to our extensive fiction and nonfiction collections, including DVDs, music CDs, and magazines, the library offers a variety of special collections that cater to people of all ages, available for checkout.

EDU Collection

Special for teachers and homeschooling families, our EDU Collection is a resource of education materials that can be checked out. These materials are available to aid in curriculum planning and educating of children. Also included in this area are such items as classroom activity ideas, science activity ideas, bulletin board ideas, homeschooling materials, and art project ideas for use by both parents and teachers.

Spanish Collection

We have a collection of Spanish fiction and nonfiction materials for Spanish-speaking patrons.

Wisconsin Reference Collection

Looking to do genealogy or do research on the history of West Bend? Visit the Wisconsin Reference Collection located at the end of our nonfiction section on the second floor. We have many types of resources such as old City Directories, church histories, family histories, local cemetery records, and much more!

Dementia Resource Center

The Dementia Resource Center was created to meet the needs of an ever-growing population in our community. This specialized collection is comprised of a variety of multi-media educational, entertainment and activity resources. Materials in the Dementia Resource Center were collected to help those experiencing dementia, their caregivers, dementia care professionals as well as children.

The second purpose of The Dementia Resource Center is to serve as an access point to local social service agency resources. Our primary partners, the Washington County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and the Alzheimer’s Association has wealth of educational materials. This is also a location to check for upcoming Dementia programs and presentation information.

Study Guides

Take a look at our Study Guides. We have many things that can supplement your understanding of what you are reading in English class, such as CliffsNotes, literary criticism, and more!

At the West Bend Library, our commitment is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has access to our wide range of services and materials. Whether you are homebound, at an assisted living or at an extended care facility, we will help provide you with the materials you want and need. Our Outreach Services Librarian will also work with activity directors and therapists to provide materials that will assist them with their programming for residents.

Please reach out to our librarian to explore the full spectrum of materials available and to schedule a convenient visit to your home or facility. We will work together to arrange a flexible delivery and pickup schedule that aligns with your needs and preferences.
